The puzzle

I am a sad and lonely soul. Please come visit me.

My husband and I were quite content, hanging together in a nearby establishment, but then some guy named Emmett kidnapped and separated us, then turned me into something I never imagined I'd be. I don't know where my man is, and now I am all alone.

My new residence is opposite a spot that can be quite busy sometimes, especially in the fall, but no one ever comes over to visit me. Please, will you come and say hello?

I live in a small, upper level unit in the middle of a stretch of cozy log cabin style dwellings and my locale carries the name of a famous individual who may be known to some as number three.

My home is a bit unusual, a style not found in most neighborhoods. Though there are several others like mine nearby, as far as I know, all but mine are vacant.

I don't know much about geocaching but Emmett tells me he has hidden no fewer than ten cache stages within a mile of my location. Will someone tell this guy to get a life!

I'm told the closest stage of another Emmett cache measures precisely .312 miles away.

As for traditional caches hidden by other folks, I believe the closest among them, as of the date I was placed in my new home, is .930 miles away.

Surely, with all this information, you should be able to get a good fix on my location.

When you come to visit (you will come won't you?), I would be most excited if you would sign your name before leaving. Sorry, but I don't have much to offer, so it would be good if you would bring a pen with you.

One last thing - the neighborhood has been undergoing major changes beginning in the late winter of 2008, and it would be best if you visit after 5:00 PM on weekdays or on weekends.

Under the current circumstances, if you visit during normal weekday hours, you most likely will draw attention to me and I fear that no amount of stealth will be sufficient to assure my safety once you leave.

I'll let you know if and when things settle down, but it looks to me like these adjusted hours for my availability may be permanent. See you soon, I hope!
