Geocache Description:

Located on the "Trail of Trees" a forgotten trail at the Lower Twin Campground/boat launch area for the Flannagan lake. I gave it a 3.5 terrain due to the trail being abandoned with some overgrowth. Nothing major though. It's actually pretty comforatable. GPSer didn't like the cache area, but it get's you a general idea.

From the visitors center at the dam go across the dam and following Rt 739 1.6 miles. Turn left onto Rt 611 (Birchleaf Road) and follow for 2.6 miles and turn left onto Rt 683 (Lower Twin Road). Follow for .4 miles to the campground.

The campground is open from mid May to Labor Day. Parking is at the shower house N37 13.971 W82 22.532. During the off season (winter) park at the pay booth N37 14.123 W82 22.736, just don't block the gates!

The trail is a 1/2 mile loop starting at the sign N37 13.948 W82 22.483. When facing the sign go right (S/E there's an arrow pointing you). It goes on up the hill before cutting back for a fairly comfortable grade.

The trail has been abandoned and in some places its hard to tell where it goes. Just stick with what looks like a trail and look for the 4x4 posts they used to have pictures of different trees on. You'll also see trees with initials carved out on them along the way.

In the last half of the trail (once you've gotten the cache), you'll cross a small creek. Be careful which rocks you choose or get wet feet!

Cache is a 9x6x4 clear rubbermade container w/white lid covered with leaves and a rock.

Original Contents: 2 dinosaurs, Play-Doh, stretchy frog snake and spider, two 35mm film canisters, log book w/ pen and pencil.
