This is the first cache in series of caches beside the Ox Road of
Häme. CACHE IS NON IN THES STONE WALL!
Keskiajalla Härkätie yhdisti valtakunnan kaksi tärkeää linnaa,
Turun linnan ja Hämeen linnan. Sotilaiden ja hallintomiesten ohella
tiellä kulkivat kirkonmiehet ja pyhiinvaeltajat, sillä Härkätie
liitti toisiinsa Turun Tuomiokirkon, Rengon Pyhän Jaakon kirkon
sekä Hämeen äitikirkon, Hattulan Pyhän Ristin.
Hattulan Pyhän Ristin kirkko, Hämeen vanhin kirkko, on rakennettu
1470-1490. Keskiajalla tämä kirkko on ollut suosittu
pyhiinvaelluskohde. Kirkon erikoisuuksina ovat muun muassa kokoelma
puuveistoksia, joista vanhin on 1300-luvun alkupuoliskolta, puinen
kastemalja keskiajalta sekä maamme vanhin saarnastuoli vuodelta
1550.
In medieval times the Ox Road of Häme was connecting two
significant castles, The Castle of Turku and The Castle of Häme.
This road also connected two churches The Dome Church of Turku and
The Church of Renko to each others. Soldiers, administration, men
of churches and pilgrims used this road.
This Church of Hattula was built during years 1470 – 1490. It was
popular target for pilgrims. Specialities of the church are
collection of wooden sculptures, wooden font from medieval times
and the oldest pulpit in Finland from 1550s.
