Geocache Description:

When we set the Yalding Hill Walk series back in December 2008 geocachers would jump at the chance to find 8 caches over 5 miles, but things have changed since then.

We've added 17 caches to the walk and extended it slightly, so those who have not done the walk before can look forward to 25 caches and even those who have already found the original 8 caches now have an extra 17 to attempt, and an excuse to come back and do this excellent walk again.

The walk now comprises 25 caches including a bonus cache, which can be found by collecting the clues in each of the caches before the bonus, all of which are repeated several times and there is no need for those of you who have already done the originals (those from 01 to 07 without a suffix letter) to re-find them. If you do, please take care not to log them for a second time. The only cache you will have to re-find is the bonus if you want to continue on the Nano Trail section of the walk.

The coordinates and hints for the final 5 caches after the bonus (numbers 08 to 12) can only be found on tear-off sheets in the bonus box. Please only take one sheet from the box. There are also some failsafe coordinates in the box in case the tear-off strips go missing. This extension to the walk is a much more enjoyable route to get back to the parking coordinates.

All the caches including the bonus are on a circular walk from Yalding involving Blind Lane, a medieval path once the main road up Yalding Hill. This is a 6 mile walk on footpaths and country lanes with one fairly steep path and some parts that are always muddy so walking boots are required, but it is worth it for the views. Parking for the walk can be found on Yalding High Street near N 51º 13.526' E 000º 25.889'. Yalding Farmers Market is held on the third Saturday of every month, so on these days you may have to find alternative parking, which is not difficult.

 Some of the caches can be done as drive-bys but this series is really intended as a walk. Difficulty / Terrain ratings are an assessment of the whole series, not each individual cache. Most of the caches are very easy to find, especially with the hints given. There are quite a few stiles, some of which are not particularly dog friendly.

We recommend the walk is done in the order of the links at the bottom of this listing and hope our numbering system seems logical.
