Lancaster Pike remains a main thoroughfare between northern
Delaware and Lancaster, PA. There are many cars and trucks which
traverse this road so a rest area just over the line in Delaware
makes some sense.
There use to be a few parking spots in front of the photo above,
but during the recent Lancaster Pike road widening project, they
removed a nearby stop sign and the parking spots. It probably would
be dangerous to try and pull in and out with the traffic the way it
is now. But, they never put in any other parking spots either. Now
the picnic tables are starting to fall apart and I'm sure this area
is hardly used anymore. Wouldn't this be a great place to enjoy
some ice cream from a nearby shop?
I placed this quick easy cache here so some geocachers will make
use of this rest area. You should be able to pull off the end of
Old Lacaster Pike to park (N 39° 47.397 W 075° 42.072).
Enjoy!
