For those that don’t have one, there is a boat hire place
in Woronora. I recommend calling them before heading out to check
on availability.
For your effort you will be rewarded with not one, but
FIVE caches that are part of the Woronora River series. The
other four are:
- Breakdown and
Makeup (contains the co-ords for Shackels &
Deepwater Estate caches)
- Shackels
Estate (contains half the co-ords for
Breakdown and Makeup)
- Salinity Now!
- Ruined Castles
If you REALLY want to walk, the co-ordinates for this one and
“Shackels Estate” are in “Breakdown and
Makeup”. I can assure you that it’s far easier by
boat.
Deepwater Estate used to be comprised of holiday shacks but over
the years they have become expensive waterfront properties.
Residents don't have road access so can only get to their homes by
boat or by a walking track.
They have been arguing with the council about dredging the river
some more (as you may appreciate if you do this at low tide).
Now to the cache.
Go to the above co-ordinates.
Find the following numbers on the sign and insert them into the
cache co-ordinates below:
There is a phone number printed as AB AC DE
The speed limit is: F knots (nmph)
The cache is located at:
340 0A.44C
1510 0A.FDE
HALF OF THE CO-ORDS FOR “BREAKDOWN AND MAKEUP” ARE
TAPED TO THE LID.
BE SURE TO MAKE A NOTE OR PUT IT INTO YOUR GPS.
After you have done the caching stuff, follow the cliff line
around to the left (if you are facing the cache) for about 30m.
You'll see an amazing cave formation.
