Chillin' Event Details:
We are going to shake things up a bit this year. This annual event is moving to October to allow those in town for the big Geocoinfest U.S. 2012 Mega Event to join us. A visit to Colorado is not complete without a trip into the Rockies. Also, the event hosts will be the Colorado Reviewers, Alpine Reviewer and HighCountryAdmin. Of course Team Red Rubicon and some of the usual trail leaders will help out as well. Lastly, the event will be at lunch time along the trail so you will need an adequate 4x4 or a ride to get up there (see 4x4 Adventure info below).
There are two ways to get to the rendezvous/lunch spot, one much more difficult than the other. We will likely have multiple groups leaving at different times so not everyone will get to the rendezvous together and we will plan for that. The first group(s) should get there by noon and lunch will be served around 1:00 pm but don't worry if you are later. Trailhead meeting times will be determined at a later date and posted to this event cache page.
Lunch will be served at approximately 1:00 pm.

4x4 Bear Award - To be handed off annually.
The bear was carved and graciously donated by jmike for the 2007 4x4 event raffle. Sting25 won it at that event after having a little mishap on the trail during that day. Sting25 agreed to give the bear up to the next victim lucky person and the plan was hatched to make the bear an annual award. boborr80909 won the bear at the 2011 4x4 event. Who will win it this year and what mishap accomplishment will it be awarded for?

Just Chillin' Attire Award (You decide what that is)
Prize: Hiking Poles

Trail Plans:
Moderate Group:
The moderate group will be running the first easier portion of Bill Moore Lake trail with an optional run up the more difficult section to the lake on your own after lunch.
Route plans for the day are:
Based on the number of vehicles we have on the moderate run as of 9/16, we will split into two moderate groups. The moderate groups will meet at the Bill Moore Lake trailhead and run the first half of the trail to the lunch event site, stopping for caches along the way. After he lunch event, everyone will be on their own to either take a run up to Bill Moore Lake, explore the area and caches around the event site and/or just head back down the trail the way they came. Note: You can download a GPX track file of the trail here. See Meeting plans below for times and meeting coordinates.
Difficult Group:
The difficult group will be running difficult Red Elephant Hill trail with an optional run on difficult Mill Creek trail and/or up to Bill Moore Lake on your own after lunch.
Route plans for the day are:
The difficult group will run the full Red Elephant Hill trail, ending up at the lunch event site. Depending on the trail conditions, it could take some time to get up the trail so we will get an early start. After the lunch event, everyone will be on their own to either take a run up to Bill Moore Lake, check out the Mill Creek Loop, explore the area and caches around the event site and/or just head back down the Bill Moore Lake trail to return. Note: You can download a GPX track file of the trail here. See Meeting plans below for times and meeting coordinates.
