At the site of Ness Bridge there have been bridges of various
construction since the 11th century. More recently Ness Bridge was
an asymmetrical suspension bridge with a high tower to the east
side and small anchors on the west side. With the increase in
traffic across the bridge, the narrow entrance through the tower on
the eastern side ws seen as a bottle neck. The bridge was
demolished and replaced with the current concrete bridge by Sir
Murdoch MacDonald and partners (now Mott MacDonald Ltd.) with two
lanes running in both directions.
To find this cache you will need to visit the given coordinates.
Here is a plaque commemorating the construction of the bridge. Find
the date of construction. With January = 1, February = 2 etc.
convert the date as follows:
DD M YYYY and assign these numbers to these letters
TU V WXYZ
Now for a bit of maths. Take the coordinates for the plaque and do
these sums:
N57º 28.(6 - T) (2 + Y + Z) (V - X + 9)
W004º 13.(7 - W - Z) (U - T) (X - T)
Now you should have the coordinates for the actual cache container.
It is within a short walking distance from the plaque and there is
also parking available nearby the cache.
The seven caches located at the various bridges contain six of
the coordinate digits and one additional clue for finding the
