Berkhamsted Place
Berkhamsted Place
was built by Sir Edward Carey in 1580, using masonry from the
ruined Berkhamsted castle, and over the years it has seen many
changes of ownership and occupancy. In the early part of the 20th
century it was the home of Mr. S. J. Ram K.C., followed by his son,
Sir Granville Ram, the first Parliamentary Council to the Treasury
in 1937. Shortly after the Second World War the house - which then
had nine bedrooms plus five staff bedrooms, was empty and put up
for sale. It was converted into flats, but this was unsuccessful
and the house was demolished in 1967.
Where the house once stood there is now a wood and this cache
:D
The cache you are looking for is not the usual Tupperware pot
and has been camouflaged to blend, so some careful hunting is in
order. Please take care when opening the container as things could
fall out, this will make more sense once you find the cache! Also,
please bring a pencil or pen with you as there was no room for one
in the cache.
Whilst in the area, why not pay a visit to
The Cache Which Time Forgot.
