Risk is a strategic board game, produced by Parker Brothers. The standard version is played on a board depicting a political map of the Earth, divided into forty-two territories, which are grouped into six continents. The primary object of the game is "world domination," or to occupy every territory on the board and in so doing, eliminate all other players.

There are nine territories in the North American continent in Risk. The Eastern United States, the American East, or simply the East is traditionally defined as the states east of the Mississippi River. The East no longer has a unified culture, due to the vast number of immigrants who flooded the region from the mid-19th century to the present day. The East is composed of three sub-regions: The South, The Midwest, and The Northeast
