GEOPOLY REGENSBURG

In dieser Reihe werden die Strassenzüge der Regensburg Monopoly Edition von 2010 als Caches abgebildet.
Als Bonus winkt "Frei Parken". Hierfür müssen die Hinweise zu den 8 Buchstaben RATISBON gesammelt werden, die in den FINALS des jeweiligen Strassenzugs zu finden sind.

Dieser Strassenzug besteht aus dem St. Emmeram Platz und dem Domplatz. Wir starten am St. Emmeram Platz.


St. Emmeram Platz
Sankt Emmeram ist ein um 739 gegründetes Benediktinerkloster in Regensburg. Es entstand am Grab des als Märtyrer verehrten fränkischen Wanderbischofs Emmeram von Regensburg. Von 739 bis 975 waren die Äbte von St. Emmeram gleichzeitig Bischöfe von Regensburg. Das Emmeramer Skriptorium entwickelte sich im frühen Mittelalter zu einem Zentrum der Buchmalerei. Nach einem teilweisen Verlust seiner Bedeutung im 16. Jahrhundert erlebte das Kloster im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert erneut einen Aufschwung und die Klosterakademie in der freien Reichsstadt Regensburg entwickelte sich zu einem Gegenstück der Münchner Akademie.

Sankt Emmeram fiel1803 mit der Reichsstadt und dem Hochstift Regensburg an das neu gegründete Fürstentum Regensburg des früheren Fürstprimas Carl Theodor von Dalberg. Seit dem Pariser Vertrag (1810) gehörte Sankt Emmeram mit Regensburg zu Bayern. Im Zusammenhang mit der Ablösung der Postrechte erwarb das Fürstenhaus Thurn und Taxis 1810 das Klostergelände und ließ es ab 1812 durch Jean Baptiste Métivier zur Residenz ausbauen. Das Schloss wird bis heute von Angehörigen der Familie von Thurn und Taxis bewohnt.

Nun machen wir einen kleinen Spaziergang quer durch die Stadt zu den nächsten Koordinaten am Domplatz.
Domplatz
Der Domplatz wird vom Regensburger Dom beherrscht. Dieser auch Kathedrale St. Peter genannte Bau ist die bedeutendste Kirche der Stadt Regensburg und Kathedrale des Bistums Regensburg. Die Kirche ist ein Hauptwerk der gotischen Architektur in Süddeutschland.

Östlich des Domes steht die staatliche Dombauhütte, sie ist für den Erhalt des Bauwerks verantwortlich. Im Unterschied zu vielen anderen Dombauhütten wird hier nicht mit modernen Maschinen sondern nur mit alten Handwerkzeugen gearbeitet. Diese werden in der Bauhütte selbst hergestellt.

An der Außenseite befindet sich auch eine Judensau in Form einer Sau an deren Zitzen drei Juden hängen. Die Judensau ist zudem in Richtung auf das ehemalige Judenviertel am Neupfarrplatz ausgerichtet. Im Jahr 2005 wurde nach einer Kontroverse ein Hinweisschild aufgestellt.

In der Nähe des Doms befindet sich das Hutfachhandelsgeschäft „Hutmacher am Dom“, auch „Hutkönig“ genannt, das seit fünf Generationen dafür sorgt, dass die Regensburger gut behütet sind. Wie viele Fenster hat der dreistöckige Erker der sich über dem Geschäft befindet? D

This collection of properties consists of the St. Emmeram Platz and the Domplatz. We will start at the St. Emmeram Platz.


St. Emmeram Platz
St. Emmeram is a monastery founded by Benedictines in Regensburg at 739. It was built up at the grave of the martyr Bishop Emmeram of Regensburg. From 739 to 975, the abbots of St. Emmeram always were bishops of Regensburg. The scriptorium Emmeram developed in the early Middle Ages as a center of illumination. After a partial loss of its importance in the 16th century the monastery had a boom in the 17th and 18th century and the academy in the free imperial city of Regensburg developed into an equivalent of the Academy of Munich.

In 1803 St. Emmeram with the Imperial City and the Bishopric of Regensburg passed into the ownership of the newly-founded Principality of Regensburg of the former Prince Primate Karl Theodor von Dalberg. Since the Treaty of Paris (1810) Saint Emmeram belonged to Regensburg, Bavaria. In connection with the transfer of the postal rights the Princely House of Thurn und Taxis bought the monastery grounds in 1810 and let the residence expand from 1812 with the help of Jean Baptiste Métivier. The castle is being inhabited by members of the family of Thurn und Taxis till today.

The cathedral square (German: Domplatz) is dominated by the Regensburg Cathedral. The Regensburg Cathedral (German: Kathedrale St. Peter or Regensburger Dom), dedicated to St Peter, is the most important church and landmark of the city Regensburg, Germany. It is the seat of the Catholic diocese of Regensburg. The church is the prime example of Gothic architecture in Bavaria.

To the east of the cathedral is the state-run Dombauhütte (cathedral building workshop) which is responsible for the preservation of the structure. In contrast with many cathedral building works, neither modern machines nor exclusively old tools are used. Rather, tools are manufactured in the workshop itself.

On the exterior there is a Judensau (Jews' sow) in the form of a sow and three Jews hanging onto its teats. The Judensau faces in the direction of the former Jewish quarter at the Neupfarrplatz. In 2005 there was a controversy about the posting of an informational sign.
