Geocache Description:

*Please note the above co-ords are NOT the co-ords of the Cache. To find the co-ords you must visit all seven “Salford Seven” caches.*

About The Salford Seven Caches

The Salford Seven Caches celebrate the parish of Salford Priors. The Parish comprises the villages of Salford Priors, Abbot’s Salford and Dunnington and the hamlets of Iron Cross, Pitchill, Rushford and the Bevingtons (Cock Bevington, Wood Bevington and Bevington Waste).

More information about the Salford Seven and walks in the parish can be found at Seven Walks. Many of the nuggets of information on these pages are taken from Mr Bolstridge’s fabulous pamphlet.

One Cache is placed in each of the Seven, plus there is a Bonus Cache once all 7 main Caches have been completed. Each cache contains a special item for the FTF, with the Bonus Cache’s being best of all!

For those with limited time, or kiddie-Cachers in tow, each Cache can be completed as a ‘Cache & Dash’, with parking less than a mile from the Cache location in each case. Each Cache details the distance to the next, in case you wish to string two or three together!

For the more leisurely Cacher, the seven Caches have been connected into an 8 mile circular walk. The route can be found at CacheWalker. The walk passes close by all 3 public houses in the parish, allowing the Cacher ample opportunity for refreshment!

The Bonus Cache is approximately 1 mile from the suggested parking place (which you pass on the walk), adding a further 2 miles to the walk if completed en route.

To find the co-ordinates of the Bonus Cache (in the format N XX YY.ZZA W A BB.CDD, where each different letter indicates a different cache), those for the start of a useful footpath, and those for the suggested parking place, you will need to visit all 7 main Caches. Please check the inside cover of each logbook for the required information!

Please take great care at all times. Some areas may be very muddy or overgrown! The B4088 can also get very busy and do remember that this is an agricultural/ industrial area, even though it’s in the middle of the countryside, so please be aware of slow and heavy vehicles trundling down the lanes!!

About The Salford Seven BONUS

PLEASE NOTE: Please take GREAT CARE at the final cache site! The nearby building has suffered some damage and there are broken bits underfoot – please WATCH YOUR STEP!!! It is also near a main road so keep a tight rein on Geokiddies & Geodogs! Cache is currently well protected by brambles, suggest long sleeves and possibly gloves, and you may need to protect your face whilst retrieving! (I was fine in a baseball cap)

The Cache is listed as a Difficulty 3, as it will probably take you all afternoon to find all 7 main Caches - in itself it's probably a 1.5

The Cache contains a disposable camera, so please take pics of yourselves when you finally complete your mission! Please let us know when the camera is full so we can get the photos developed and post them on here! :D

Salford Priors used to be served by a railway line, running from Evesham to Redditch. The line opened in 1866, and was closed in 1963 by Dr Beeching (as were many other lines and stations across the country, see GCYW4T, “You Missed The Last Train” by wykenwizard!)

The route of the track can be seen on maps of the area, and some is now covered by footpaths. The Station building is now used as the offices of “Alamo”, and a signal box can also still be seen alongside the A46. Part of the footpath to the Cache follows the route of the old railway line.

Pictures and more information on the village station can be found at Subterranea Britannica - Salford Priors station
