Lake George is a beautiful place. Unfortunately until I placed this cache, I had never stopped to have a good look from this vantage point. Hope you enjoy it as you break your trip to Canberra.
First take the time to read the story of a gallant soldier. Then use the clues to calculate the offset GZ, and just for fun, a really good vantage point about 30 or so metres further on.
The cache is a 1 litre sistema container - there is a small "gem" for the first finder.
Clues
Consider his Military number NX ABCDE and the date the citation was published in the London Gazette FG/H/IJKL
Consider
X = A + B + C + D + E
Y = F + G + H + I + J + K + L
GZ
South fractional = 4.5 * X
East fractional = (24 * Y) + 4
Even cooler view
South fractional = (5 * X) + 7
East fractional = (23 * Y) + 21
GZ Checksums: South 32 East 28
Cool View Checksums: South 23 East 32
At the GZ, please go in through the front door and re-build it the same way - thanks.
Obviously the GZ has some elevation to it, so you can climb the hill (recommended) - or drive up closer. I definitely don't recommend this at night - the view is invisible and the terrain will be less user-friendly. Please take care in this rocky uneven terrain - sensible walking is recommended.
