Geocache Description:

Yo ho ho, Merry Xmas!

After 2 very successful "Late Xmas Cache Bashes", this year and last year, we are going mad, and organising another one, on Sunday Jan 30th, 2005!

Please note that this year will be at a new location: The Cart & Horses PH, Kingsworthy. Located only 1 mile from the M3 (Junction 9)... take the A34 north (signposted Newbury) and get into the right hand lane: when the road forks, take the right hand fork (for A33 Basingstoke). After approx 800 yards, turn left into London Road, and you'll then see the pub on the right.

We will be "setting up camp" in the skittle alley, where there will be a bar, and seating for about 40 or 50... but you will be just as welcome to prop up the main bar etc!

The pub is just under new management, but they are still happy to serve us between 12:00 and 1:15 (so please get there early if you can)... then you take your food into the skittle alley. We're hoping that the food will be a lot better organised than it has the last couple of years!

The Carvery will cost £8.95 (£4.95 for kids) Other kids food (sausages, burgers etc) are also available: see the kids menu HERE.

The Cart and Horses Website gives loads more details - including the wine list!!!.

After lunch, we can remain in the Skittle Alley to sit & chat & drink (but no, we are NOT playing skittles!!!).... Another good chance to catch up with the latest geo-gossip!

Once again, we'll be running a Secret Santa, so go to the new year sales and spend 2 or 3 quid for something silly (wrap it & mark who it's suitable for: eg Adult, Boy under 8, Dog...). If you have 2 kids, who will therefore want 2 pressies, please play fair and bring 2 other pressies along!

I'm also hoping to persuade others to provide other entertainments... quizzes etc... more details as I get them.

I'll also be taking the opportunity to launch a new (permanent) cache nearby.... which takes you on a nice (ok, MUDDY!) walk along (and indeed over, but hopefully not IN) the River Itchen.... sheets will be available at the pub.

We look forward to seeing you all there: please post a note below to let us have an idea of how many to expect, so I can let the pub know numbers and food needed.

There's more details in a forum thread

A new cache, Itchen to get back to the pub, has been placed nearby, which will become available at the event.
