Geocache Description:

The original Wolf Rocks Cache was archived in December 2006. I enjoyed finding that cache as well as the view from the overlook. As a result I thought it a good idea to redo the cache using the same coordinates as the original cache but DCNR suggested that I move the cache a bit so as not to ruin the flora around the original hiding place. So that's what I did. Please avoid making a geotrail by leaving the Wolf Rocks Trail at N 40 08.245 W 079 11.847. Follow the small trail toward the cache and please return in the same manner. We encourage those of you who did the original cache to again take the great walk through the forests of W Pa and find this new cache.

The cache is located very near the Wolf Rocks Overlook at the end of Wolf Rocks Trail in Forbes State Forest. The cache is a .50 cal ammo can full of goodies. Be aware that Wolf Rocks Trail is very rocky and at times can get a bit muddy but not impassable. The hike is about 3.5 miles round trip but is especially rewarded by the view from the Overlook. We have been informed by park personnel and others that rattlesnakes like to sun themselves on and around these rocks. We've never seen any, but just be careful, no blindly reaching into crevices! (Obviously, this warning is applicable only in the warm months.)

Trail maps should be available near the park office. And for your convenience there are a few picnic tables and restrooms located in the parking area for this cache and near the park office.

A word of CAUTION: You will be in both a state park and a state forest. In both these places nature is left largely untouched. Before trying to search in any covered areas make sure that there are no animals or other dangers inside or around and that you do not destroy the natural beauty around you,

While you are at it you might try another cache that can be found just off Wolf Rocks Trail on your way to this one. It is DAUGHTER OF SPRUCE FLATS BOG CACHE

I would like to recommend a cache located in Linn Run State Park for you to do as well. It is: PRINCESS LEAH'S CACHE

You should also consider these caches located very near this cache: , WILDERNESS CACHE, and BUCK CACHE.

WARNING:
Don't forget that during hunting season you are required to wear at least 250 sq in of blaze orange clothing by Pa Game Commission regulations. This is for your own safety.
