Geocache Description:

Posted coordinates are bogus! You must visit five other caches and collect information from them to be used in the calculations below.

This cache is the final in a series called Species 448788. You must start the series with Away Mission: Meadowvale and work your way through each of the caches in order.

Note:
The actual coordinates of Away Mission: Meadowvale were posted at 5:30am on June 3, 2006

Species 448788 was a race of technologically advanced beings. They had developed a remarkable method of transporting instantly to almost anywhere in the universe. They also developed a very sophisticated mechanical being to perform their tedious work. The original species has since ascended to a non-corporeal being and no longer interacts with our kind. This happened long before we started exploring the galaxy, so all that we know about them is based upon interactions with their remaining mechanical robots.

These robots are very benign and seem to be bound by a set of laws similar to the Asimov laws of robotics. Since their creators have moved on, they have roamed the universe looking for ways to help other beings. Although the robots are very willing to help, they will not allow outsiders any access to their creator's technology. Unfortunately, that are not fully qualified to maintain that same technology and it has steadily been deteriorating.

During their recent attempt to visit Earth, their transport device suffered a failure which resulted in pieces of these visitors being scattered over a wide area. One of these pieces was able to transmit a distress call before powering down. Also, one of these robots holds the key to repairing their transport device, and once reassembled, we will arrange to transport it back to it's homeworld to begin those repairs.

Your mission is to visit each of the locations and collect a piece of each robot. There were twelve robots and you are one of twelve teams attempting to retrieve one robot each. The hope is that at least one robot will be successfully retrieved, assembled, and recharged. Should the other teams fail, this one robot can then make it's own rescue attempt. For this reason, it is vitally important that you do not retrieve extra pieces as you may prevent a potentially successful team from completing it's task.

Do NOT remove any pieces unless you intend to complete the entire rescue mission. If you are not participating in the rescue, please just sign the logbook and trade for regular items (if available).

In order to find this cache, you must complete a series of away missions. You may start your away mission immediately, beginning with:

Away Mission: Meadowvale

At each location, you'll find coordinates for the next location. There will also be a clue that is required to find this cache (make sure you record it). The next away missions are:

Away Mission: Eldorado
Away Mission: Witchville
Away Mission: Limehouse

The final mission contains the base coordinates (instead of a code) required for locating this cache (make sure you record them):

Away Mission: Speyside

After you have gathered all of the clues from the away missions, you can calculate the final location using the following chart.

Once you find this cache, you must not remove more than one power module. Only take the power module if you have agreed to complete the entire rescue mission. If you are not participating in the rescue, please trade only for regular items (if available) or just sign the logbook. Once you have collected the power module from this location, you should make arrangements to visit Quark's where you will find a recharging station. Be sure to bring your completed robot!

The universe is relying on the continued support of these robots and therefore needs that transport system repaired.

Good Luck in your rescue mission!

There is a special card in the cache for the first to find. If the holder of that card is present at Quark's, they will have first choice of one of the available prizes. Shared first finders will have to decide amongst themselves how to deal with the prize (game of Dabo perhaps?).

In addition, there will also be a prize awarded to a randomly chosen holder of one of the robots (first finder is not elegible).
