Yuzawa Kat: Golly, this cache is now featured on the Groundspeak forums! [:O] http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=81617&st=0&#entry1100992 Doc-Dean, thanks for giving credit where credit seems due, but you know me -- I'm vertically challenged, so sometimes (most times!) I ask for His help. Have a blessed day, all. Happy caching ~~

Geocache Description:

Let's try the 1-800-555-GEMA GeoEvent again. New location in the Moccasin Lake Nature Park. Looking for a way to help GXing victims of the hurricanes?  Hope you can join us! Park admission fee WILL be collected to help the park. Details below.

Before I forget, thanks to someone on the NEFGA.com website for the Free Tree pic, and thanks to Doc-Dean for sharing it.
GeoCachers Emergency
Management Agency

First (rescheduled!)
collection (and distribution!)
meeting to be held:

Saturday, October 2
10:30 AM until 3:30 PM
MoLaNaPa's Southern Pavilion

Thank God the Hurricane Circus Train has finally slowed down enough to let Florida jump off for a bit of a stretch! Check out the orginal GeoEvent if you're interested: 1-800-555-GEMA. If FEMA can give disaster aid, GEMA can try to do the same.  Naturally, please come share the usual potluck lunch/picnic with us.  Gas grills will be available for any who would like to use them.

Then, in addition to sharing something eating-wise, we ask you please bring some suitable waterproof containers and/or cache contents to donate to victimized GXers along the hurricanes' wake zones. We will hold a camouflaging clinic for containers, we will have a cache stuffing station to get them ready for placement, and we will sort them based on size (regular or micro) and suitable location (urban or trail). These will be distributed to cachers from hurricane wake zones (many of us now qualify!) for placement some time in the near future.  Hope you can join us for this, our first GEMA collection (and distribution!) meeting.

Sorry, the GeoCamping Event the same night will not be offered as Burgi Dad is not available to handle it. In exchange, we will still play at least four hands of the Find 'Em Cacher poker game hinted at in the following: MoLaNaPa GeoEvent #2 - Find 'em Cacher.

If you are still interested in camping, check out this site: Camping 411 in Clearwater.

More about MoLaNaPa:
Located within the City of Clearwater, Moccasin Lake Nature Park is a 51 acre nature preserve offering the visitor a chance to experience the way native Florida used to be, as well as learn about environmental and energy conservation.  Contained within this City Park is a five acre lake, nature trails, animal, plant, and energy exhibits, an interpretive center, and a multi-purpose pavilion. The Wanderer MIGHT have wandered again and at least four new caches will be placed for this GeoEvent, not counting the Find 'Em Cacher placements.

Admission:
  $3/Adult, $2/Children 3 - 12, Free for under 3.

Park Hours:  Tuesday -  Friday:    9:00 AM through 5:00 PM
Saturday - Sunday:  10:00 AM through 6:00 PM
Closed most Mondays.

Please obey all the posted rules and regulations of Moccasin Lake Nature Park. Please be respectful towards the SPIDERS that live here year-round -- they keep the mosquitoes at bay.  On the trails, we've seen every size from the bongo-playing banana spiders down to the dainty little crab spiders.  Trust me, none are as big as the one living in Shelob's Lair, so just duck under, go around, or GENTLY push aside with a stick.

Frequently Asked Questions:

AbsoLOOTly, bring TBs to rotate. I have over a dozen TBs which I have been rescuing from caches as each storm on the Hurricane Circus Train has decided to come to town. Can't you just hear their relieved sighs at finally having a place to stretch their legs?

I have a GEMA goal of at LEAST three dozen completed caches of all different shapes, sizes, and cache-placement concepts (urban or trail) ready and waiting to be placed.  The caches will be distributed towards the end of the GeoEvent.

Anyway, on to more pressing matters -- the GeoEvent is SOON, and I am SCRAMbling.  Turns out EVERYone in my family, even Burgi Dad, is busy elsewhere, can't come, and I'll be needing some help.  I've shanghaied some college freshmen to help me out  but they will need direction and guidance as they are all GeoNewbies, though eager to learn.  I'm hoping (begging?) some of you experienced GXers will be willing to take charge of a station.  Grills?    Sorting cache containers?  Camouflaging?  Sorting cache contents?  Cache stuffing?  Find 'Em Cacher?

There will be MANY places where people can make themselves useful, as I know you will.  This will be a WORKing GeoEvent as well as fun for all.  Thanks in advance for any gifts of time and talent you and yours will share!
