Short easy walk of about 1/4 mile to an incredible view point. Walk
to the edge and hold your breath! 2,000 ft below you is the North
fork of the Sky River. Bring a camera and enjoy the incredible
views. Walk the road south and see another awesome view of Mt Index
and Mt Persis.
I'm a sucker for a great viewpoint. After placing
What a View cache. I saw this side road leading to a overlook
with a fantastic viewpoint above the N Fork of the Skykomish River.
It had to have a cache too!....Follow the driving directions to
Mt Baring View cache Drive up the new road to N 47 50.214 W 121
31.853 and turn right (east) here. If you have a 4x4 Jeep or quad
you can drive to the cache. This road goes about .20 miles to a
landing and large cleared area. Hold your breath when you walk out
to the edge, it's a long ways down!....Be careful if you have kids.
Great spot to enjoy a lunch and the great views up and down the Sky
Valley in all directions. Continue along the road to the south .20
mile and to another incredible view point that is the site of
Another Great View cache. Views of Mt Index, Mt Persis, east and
south to Puget Sound and Olympics.
Update: 2/18/06 New gate about 1 mile from the turnoff at 2200 ft.
If not open will require you to walk about 2 miles R/T on a logging
road with about 400 ft. elevation gain.
