Whiskey Before Breakfast Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

AlmondEyes: UGH. I give up on this spot. Great place for someone to rehide one that won't get washed away. First container was a great one. This was an ammo box. Both MIA.

Geocache Description:

An ammo box hidden in Newlin Grist Mill Park near the waterfall. Accuracy of co-ordinates is 16 feet. Please do not leave any business cards in my caches. They are trash and NOT trade items by any definition.

This is a tribute to the late Bill Bowes. My Ball and Chain cache was to commemorate his and Cathy's wedding at this park only 8 months ago. Bill died last week and today (Monday 21 May) was his funeral. Afterward, there was a reception with music from fellow Philly Folk Festers and his bandmates from The Greystone Ramblers at this park. Delco Folkie and I have placed this cache in rememberance of Bill and all his wonderfullness. Just as Bill has moved along, so will all the travel bugs in the cache. He's known for saying "Keep yourself simple, keep your life natural, never stop growing".

Whiskey Before Breakfast is a song Bill loved. The words follow:

Early one day the sun wouldn't shine.
I was walking down the street not feeling too fine.
I saw two old men with a bottle between 'em.
And this was the song that I heard them singing.

"Lord preserve us and protect us,
We've been drinking whiskey 'fore breakfast"

Well I stopped by the steps where they was sitting
and I couldn't believe how drunk they were getting.
I said "Old men, have you been drinking long?".
They said "Just long enough to be sinigng this song"

Well they passed me the bottle and I took a little sip.
And it felt so good I just couldn't quit.
I drank some more and next thing I knew
there were three of us sitting there singing this tune.

One by one everybody in the town,
they heard our ruckus and they all came down.
And pretty soon all the streets were ringing
with the sound of the whole town laughing and singing.
