Locomotion Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Coralgeo: Yup. It's definitely gone. Since my caches keep getting muggled in this location, I'm going to archive this one and let someone else have a go at the spot. Maybe some of the local cache-hiders will make a more creative camouflage container than I seem to be able to come up with. Mahalo to all who have successfully logged the cache.

Geocache Description:

Another cache in the Song and Dance series, this is a very small camo'd container located in Santa Cruz's newest city park. It's almost a "sign only" cache as there is not much room for anything else. There is a geocaching window decal for the FTF.

Central Coast Geocachers of California (CCGC) logoDepot Park is a 7-acre multimodal / park facility opened in March 2005 and funded by grants by the State Coastal Conservancy and the Regional Transportation Agency. Located at the intersection of Center and Washington Streets and Pacific Avenue Extension, the park combines historic and environmental preservation with multi-modal transportation and recreation. Accessible by bike, rail or trails, Depot Park is within easy walking distance of downtown shopping and restaurants, the beach area and wharf. Within the park are bicycle racks and bike lockers, restrooms, picnic tables and a beautiful plaza with a public art piece by artist Carolyn Law symbolizing the tule habitat of the Neary Lagoon Wildlife Refuge. The full-size artificial turf soccer field is state-of-the-art and can be divided into two smaller use soccer fields for shared play. It is open for general use and reservation play.

Park hours are sunrise to sunset. Dogs are allowed on a leash. There is a nice playground for the kids. A walking/biking trail leads from the wharf area through Depot Park to Laurel Street.

Currently you can still park for free along the street, although meters will be installed in the near future. Pay parking is available at Depot Park--either by the hour or full-day ($5 max). This is also a convenient parking spot for nearby attractions.

See http://www.ci.santa-cruz.ca.us/pr/parksrec/parks/depotpark.html for full details about the park.
