SCGA Midlands GeoHolics' Regional CITO Cache In Trash Out® Event

This cache has been archived.

South Carolina Geocachers Association: Thanks to all who helped in this effort. The next day one of the TV stations wanted to do a story on this event, but figured out that after-the-fact wasn't so exciting. Maybe next time.....
Again thanks to all, we made a difference.

Geocache Description:

April 14 is National "Cache In-Trash Out" Day!

We hope to have at least seven CITO's scheduled
that day in South Carolina.

The SCGA Midlands Region will host a CITO at
Peachtree Rock Preserve near Edmund from 10am-12pm.

Peachtree Rock Preserve is named for the large sandstone formation (shaped like an upside-down pyramid) that the visitor sees immediately upon entering the preserve. The rock's strange configuration is a result of the erosion of lower layers of rock and sand, with the upper layers of hard, coarse-grained sandstone eroding at a slower rate. A small waterfall tumbling into a pool, the only cascade in the South Carolina sandhills or coastal plain, is another treasure found here.

We will meet at 10 am in the parking lot at the coordinates above to get started.

--Gloves (and subsequent trash transport) will be provided by Team WeeLee.
--Trash bags and drinking water have been donated by SC State Representative Nathan Ballentine (House District 71).
-- Domino's Pizza of Columbia is donating pizza for the participants!

For directions (only 8 miles SSW of the Columbia Airport), click the User's Web Page link at the top of the page.

Although we won't have an organized raffle, please feel free to bring along any Travel Bugs and GeoCoins to add to the fun. And don't forget to check out the old moonshine still!

We would like to thank Wayne Grooms and the Nature Conservancy for allowing us to cache and CITO here. (There are three traditional geocaches and an Earth Cache here in this park.)

This CITO has been scheduled (coincidence?) earlier in the day and only 18 miles away from the SCGA Aiken Region CITO in AL Brody Park in Perry, SC.

For those of you with other scheduled obligations that day, please note that you are more then welcome to come and go as you please. These will be fun events to meet fellow Cachers from all over the state.
