To celebrate their milestone, the 100th cache placed by Team Marzipan was called Mother Cache (GC15RYZ). The object of The Mother Cache is for finders to take one of the ready-prepared caches, BUT ONLY if they are going to hide it as a Daughter Cache.
This is a daughter cache which has been placed in a position where, if you are lucky, you can see some planes taking off or landing at Hawarden airport but if not, you can make do with a view over the Cheshire Plain (after the maze crop in the adjacent field is harvested).
The cache is located at the edge of Bilberry Wood and can be reached by parking at Tinkersdale car park in Hawarden and walking through Bilberry woods which can be very muddy in places and involves crossing three stiles. Be aware that when you come to a staggered crossroads of paths within the wood, you carry on the path ahead. Paths to the right and left are for PERMIT HOLDERS only.
An easier and cleaner approach is from Old Warren on a mainly tarmac road which becomes a farm track. There is a cattle grid at the start and sometimes the gate at the farm end of the road is closed in which case the adjacent stile would have to be crossed.
It is possible to complete a Circular walk of around three miles which could take in two other caches, Hawarden Village Vexation (GC16R8Z) by Team Marzipan and our own The "Floating Vicar" (GC1BKT4) but the pavement along Tinkersdale is narrow and traffic very fast so great care needs to be taken on this stretch. You will need to bring your own writing implement for this one and possibly tweezers.
PLEASE REPLACE AS FOUND as this is a very popular walking area.
