Geocache Description:

The Organ Needle is the highest point of the jagged peaks which dominate the Las Cruces skyline. This cache is one of a series designed to assist adventurous geocachers to its top. The cache is not at the psoted coordinates and there is no reason to go there. instead, you must first find the Yellow Rocks cache.

On one's joureny up to the Organ Needle, The Grey Emminence, a grey-brown rhiolite formation represents the first real challenge. The hill leading up to the formation from Yellow Rocks is steep and loose. The path then follows the base of the NW wall of the cliff. The path is loose, and somewhat trecherous (especially on the descent) and often scree covered. some sections require some route finding and obstacle avoidance. On the plus side, this portion of the trail is almost always in the shade offering a cool break from the intense desert sun.

To get the coordinates for this cache, you must first find the geocache, Yellow Rocks, On the lid of that cache are coordinates which will guide you to this cache. Be sure to check the lid of the cache once found, it contains coordinates for the next cache in the series, Juniper Saddle.
