Geocache Description:

In the 1930s, the United Fruit Company cleared Costa Rican jungle for the purpose of banana farming. In the process they discovered over 300 carved stone spheres, ranging in diameter from a few centimeters to two meters. Where did they come from? The best guess of scientists is a pre-colombian civilization sometime between 200 BC and 1500 AD (very precise). Myths from the area claim the stones are from the lost city of Atlantis. Between the two of us, I find the Atlantis hypothesis much more palatable than a stretch of 1700 years. Scientists around here have had more success with our region's strange stone spheres. Archaeologists from the Central Ohio area unearthed a secret document at the Newark Earthworks that stated the spheres that circled Columbus, which led to the exact path of I-270, were placed in the late 1600s by Ponce de Leon, on vacation from Florida after finding the fountain of youth. Local myth states that any time you see a giant water tower along 270, it is standing on one of the original sites of the spheres. Can you find all the caches located a stone's throw from our sphere-laden loop?

The Loop was created in part because we loved the idea of "Going in Circles," a group of caches that took the traveler around 270. Unfortunately, by the time we started caching, the series had passed its prime and many of the hides have been archived. To honor that great idea, we decided to reinvigorate the circuit of Columbus. These caches will all be very easy. But for the more adventurous explorer, they will also lead to the completion of a larger puzzle. The series is designed to be an easy way to boost your numbers (if that's your deal), to take a great circular adventure and give you a sense of accomplishment for getting them all (if that's your deal), or to serve as building blocks for a larger mystery (if that's your deal).

Each cache in the series contains a clue needed to solve "The Circuitous Cartographer." If you intend to unlock that puzzle, make sure you note the container and the password at each physical location of the Loop caches you find. Otherwise you might find yourself revisiting caches you've already discovered!

On or in each container of the Loop, there is a password which is needed to access the clue for that cache! Go to the related webpage link on the cache page and enter that password in order to receive the clue! If you have any questions regarding this, feel free to contact blandestk and/or TheLadyBee!
