There was another
cache near this location that succumbed to the fires of October
2003. Since this peak offers such incredible, 360° views, I wanted
to lure cachers back up to this location.
The cache itself enjoys this view of Cuyamaca Peak.
From Champagne Summit, you can see the Observatory and Laguna
Peak.
To the south, the view continues all the way to peaks across the
border in Mexico.
Parking is available at the Pioneer Mail area where there are
picnic tables and restrooms. You need to display an Adventure Pass
to park at that trailhead.
