Scottish Geocacher’s Day Out – Ratho Park Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Haggis Hunter: I've not heard from McKryton, but the good thing is he will still be able to log his attendance after I have archived it. Which is what I am doing now.

For those people that have logged their attendance on a date after the 26th, can I ask you to change it to the 26th February. I know this may appear to be picky and I guess it is, but it means now that it is archived, it will move down my cache listing by several caches.

Wildlifewriter has put together a report on the days event, which can be viewed here

Geocache Description:

This day out is designed to be a child friendly event. So, because it is being organised with children in mind, there won’t be any long walks or a late meet at the pub.

The main idea of the day is for us to meet up, have a few drinks, something to eat, and of course swap TB’s and have a good ole chinwag about Geocaching of course.

Haggis Hunter will be putting a few caches out for the event, which will stay in place afterwards. So look out for them, they will be -

Evergreen, A Field of Corn and The Champion Country

He will have the caches going onto the site for viewing, on the night of the 24th February. They will still be disabled and will not go active or be in place until 09:30 on the 26th February. There will still be plenty of time for you to go and find them before arriving at the pub.

Now down to the actual get together:

The meeting place is The Brewers Fayre at Ratho Park. This is on the A71 opposite the Dalmahoy Hotel entrance.
The meeting time in the pub is going to be at 1pm. on the 26th February 2005.
Tables can't be booked, but what the manager has said, that he will give us the area, just to the right as you go into the pub, to ourselves.

There will be a raffle at the event, with geocaching related prizes. We are hoping to organise a child-friendly cache clue hunt in the pub garden, which once solved will earn each child a prize from the 'cache'. However, we are still yet to go and have a look to see how interesting the garden is and what's possible.

The pub is very child friendly and it has a play park outside for the good weather (something I don’t think we will have in February) and a ballpark inside, so the kids will be able to entertain themselves.

If you can send Haggis Hunter an email with your Geocaching name and the names of all the people in your group, we can get some name tags made up for the day. Please also put onto your attending note, how many will be within your group.
