Geocache Description:

Series Logo Mark Twain

In the latter part of the 1800s, Mark Twain began work what was arguably his most popular work in an effort to capitalize on the popularity of an earlier novel. However, the new novel took on a more serious character as Twain focused increasingly on the institution of slavery and the South, but at some point, Twain began to struggle with the narrative. He set the book aside, and it remained unfinished for several years. He wrote and published a number of stories and the narrative account Life on the Mississippi before finishing this story. The finished work was published in 1884 in England and 1885 in the U.S. The story takes place in the Mississippi Valley "forty to fifty years ago," or about the time of Twain's own boyhood in Hannibal, Missouri.

The cache is located near the namesake entry point. You’ll need your own pen to make your X.
