Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache is located on the Sagamore Headlands conservation
property located off of Route 1-A in the Portsmouth, NH area. The
property borders Sagamore Creek and is near the Sagamore "Singing"
bridge.
Had this land not been conserved, it would have been turned into
condominiums. See here
for more information. The cache is to commemorate the successful
conservation of the land.
You should park off of Route 1-A to the south side of the Sagamore
"Singing" Bridge behind Seacoast Mental Health. There is more than
enough parking there. The turn-off for this parking area is about
75 feet from the south side of the bridge. Coordinates are
included. This cache is located nearby the
Sagamore Headlands Cache (GC17EQ3) and the parking area for
both is the same. Doing both together is a recommended trip. If you
are hungry, the Golden Egg across the street is in my humble
opinion the best breakfast/brunch place in the entire world. Also,
if the weather is hot and it's high tide, you can bring a bathing
suit and cool off by jumping off the bridge into the emerald waters
of Sagamore Creek. Most people jump off of the west side and
remember: be smart; you jump at your own risk.
There is a nice, but unmarked 0.3 mile trail starting at the
parking area and running parallel to Sagamore Creek that leads to
the cache area. There are also excellent viewpoints looking out
onto the creek. I have included coordinates for two of these spots
and several nice pictures are posted below.
