Geocache Description:

This cache was inspired by Kid's Critter Cache (GC12X0E) placed by my brother, Climber5.11.

The objectives of this cache shalt be two. No more. No less. Two shalt be the number of objectives and the number of objectives shalt be two. Three shalt not be, nor either shalt one, excepting that the objectives be two. (loose paraphrase of a Monty Python script)

1) Get the kids out of the house - Everyone has surely read about today's "childhood obesity epidemic" along with the oft repeated urban legend that this generation will be the first to not outlive their parents. Of course this is merely hypothesis as there is no scientific evidence to support this; one of the reasons being that members of this group have not reached the age where such data could be gathered.

Whatever the physical fitness of today's generation might be, it still couldn't hurt to tear little Johnny and Jenny away from video games, the TV and other sedentary activities, and take them hiking to burn off some excess energy.

2) Inspire in your tiny cachers a love and respect for Mother Nature by providing as many opportunities as possible to experience the infinite variety of plants, animals, and beautiful scenery that comprise the Great Outdoors.

The cache is located just off the Heron Trail in Joseph D. Grant County Park about 0.1 miles from the nearest access point on Quimby Road. My other cache here, Quimby's Quagmire Quandary (GC1E832), marks the spot. The cache is an ammo box containing all kinds of fun toys. The last few feet up to the cache is a bit slippery so some adult assistance might be needed for the little ones.

The Baby Keb Family has hiked here many times during all seasons and we have seen coyotes pouncing on mice, a wild pig sow with piglets crashing through brush, actual flying turkeys, raptors and vultures riding the thermals, reptiles of varying degrees of scariness, and of course the magnificent oaks and scenic vistas.

The more energetic may continue on to gain the Dutch Flat Trail ridge where several caches are there for the taking with only half the amount of climbing than that required for an ascension from the valley below. Perfect for those toasty summer days.

Trail hours are sunrise to sunset.

Ahhhh, look at the cute little coyote pups!

My, what big eyes you have! The better to see you with my dear.
