Geocache Description:

The Singing Bridge Cache is located by the Sagamore "Singing" Bridge off of Route 1-A in Portsmouth, NH. This metal-grate bridge "sings" as you drive over it and at high tide when the weather is hot, countless people jump off of it into the emerald waters of Sagamore Creek below.

The best place to park is off of Route 1-A to the south side of the bridge behind Seacoast Mental Health. There is more than enough parking there. The turn-off for this parking area is about 75 feet from the south side of the bridge. Coordinates are included. This cache is located nearby the Sagamore Headlands Cache (GC17EQ3) and the parking area for both is the same.

The cache itself is a normal-sized Rubbermaid container. It has an orange top, red rim and is labeled as the "Singing Bridge Cache." You'll know when you find it.

The terrain for this cache is certainly not the most forgiving, however the distance from the parking area to this cache is very short and any able-bodied adult or child should be able to reach the cache. If you have any physical disabilities or are unsure of your fitness, let someone else grab the cache and don't risk taking a tumble. There is also a beautiful view of Sagamore Creek down by the rocks and if you are hungry, the Golden Egg right across the street serves, in my humble opinion, the best breakfast/brunch food on the planet.

At times, this cache may difficult to log without nearby muggles seeing so be mindful of this. If it's high tide and you want to jump off of the bridge to cool down, bring a bathing suit and a little courage. Most people jump off of the west side of the bridge, and remember: be smart; you jump at your own risk.

Update (6.16.2009): I have removed the "Kid-Friendly" attribute due to many people saying that this is not a kid friendly cache - HOWEVER, I would remind the cacher that kids indeed DO navigate the exact same area quite often when they jump off the bridge in the summer. I suppose it depends on how old your kids are or how protective a parent you are. Also, this is unequivocally not a good cache to bring your dog to.
