Geocache Description:

Plastic ammo box located at the Munsonville Cemetery. It should be a fairly-easy park and grab. Please do not climb over the stone walls surrounding the cemetery. There is no need to move any stones in the walls, and no need to climb over any stone walls.

The village of Munsonville is located a short distance north of this cemetery at the outlet of Granite Lake. The stage line once passed through Munsonville where cotton cloth and chairs were manufactured in the mills that used the abundant water power. The L.J. Colony Chair Company produced between 25,000 and 30,000 chairs annually and hired women and children from the local farms to weave the rattan seats and backs. The mills have long-since closed, and today Munsonville is mainly comprised of summer homes clustered around Granite Lake. This cemetery contains an unusual headstone made of zinc. Almost all zinc grave markers and headstones were made by the Monumental Bronze Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut between 1874 and 1914. The zinc markers and headstones can be found in cemeteries throughout the US and Canada. They were sold as more durable than marble, about 1/3 less-expensive and a progressive choice. Congratulations to ErezinNH & TX_Rogue for the FTF that was made so quickly upon publication!!
