Teil I: It's not about the numbers
Teil II: It's sometimes about the numbers
Teil III: It's only about the numbers
Teil IV: It's again about the numbers
Teil V: It's again about the numbers - reloaded
English Language version
There is nothing to be found at the coordinates, just a railway. Please do not search there!
This part shall show how quick an easy problem can turn into a complex task.
We are looking for (in the first table) the cheapest price for each product (incl. discount) and then when this product was traded last time for that price.
Why first table? Since this would be too easy we extend the task: For table 2 we need the same result - just the three best prices for each product, and the most recent date for this price!
The query for table 1 can be significant easier than for table 2; but this simple version will not be able to answer for table 2.
In turn, the second query can obviously also build the result for table 1. If you are up to it you can immideatly only build version 2.
If that doesn't work do query 1 first to get a feel for the problem!
Both lists are sorted in ascending order, first by date, then price - doesn't make sense, but that will make it a lot harder for Excel. If a price has more than two decimal places truncate the number, no rounding please.
This is another part (Part IV) of a set of mysteries that focus on data analysis. This one is about the same difficulty than part III.
Part I: It's not about the numbers
Part II: It's sometimes about the numbers
Part III: It's only about the numbers
Part IV: It's again about the numbers
Part V: It's again about the numbers - reloaded
