Geocache Description:

Geocaching 201: How to Hide a Cache

The 2012 Calgary Cache and Release Organizing Committee cordially invites you to attend a workshop on the basics of hiding a geocache.

Never hidden a cache before? Then this is the event for you! Are you an old hand at concealing plastic containers? There might be a thing or two you can learn…or share with others. Everyone is welcome to join us for Geocaching 201.

DATE: Sunday, March 18, 2012
TIME: 2:00pm – 4:00pm
LOCATION: CNIB Building – 15 Colonel Baker Place, NE
(at the posted coordinates, above)

We’ll begin indoors with a presentation on the ABC’s of hiding a geocache. Then, we’ll go outside and practice our newly aquired skills.

Here are some of the topics we’ll discuss:
  • Preparing to Hide
  • Location, Location, Location
  • Containers
  • Contents
  • Hiding the Geocache
  • Guidelines and Publishing
  • Maintenance

Hiding your first geocache might look intimidating, but it really isn’t. Just learn the basics and dive in. This workshop will get you there. While this one will focus on how to hide traditional caches, there will be another workshop, Geocaching 301: Hiding a non-traditional (GC3AVC3), held on April 21.

All are welcome to attend, including kids. Beverages and snacks will be available, and there's plenty of on-site parking.
