Geocache Description:

Near Talkeetna, Alaska, sitting in the shadow of Mt. McKinley.

If you loved the show Northern Exposure, you will love Talkeetna.

This is the only actual geocache listed with geocaching.com on the trail. It is not part of the caching game placed by the Lodge but owned by me personally!

The historic village of Talkeetna is nestled at the base of Mount McKinley (Denali), North America's tallest peak. Talkeetna has an outstanding panoramic view of the Alaska Range that can be enjoyed and photographed from several places as you wander through this town and discover what this unique location has to offer. Flightseeing, fishing, riverboat tours, hiking, nordic skiing, mushing, mountain climbers, great lodging, great people... Talkeetna is a place to enjoy no matter what time of the year! (visit link)

Mountaineers climbing Mount McKinley and other peaks in the Alaska Range are required to check in with rangers at the Talkeetna Ranger Station before climbing Denali. The Talkeetna Ranger Station stays open year-round. Rangers at the Talkeetna Ranger Station also offer interpretive programs about the park throughout the summer.

Cache is an ammo box. Thanks to everyone for their efforts to keep this cache active for all to enjoy. Please make sure to replace it where/as you found it. Start from the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. Cache is hidden in the wooded area behind the lodge just off the nature trail.
