Geocache Description:

24 June 2023, 15:00 - 19:00

 💯 SEMAG Meet & Greet #100 - The Centennial Event 💯

Town: Dartmouth (Park address is 443 Old Fall River Rd, Dartmouth, MA)

Date: June 24th

Time: 3 - 7 P.M.

Additional Info: It really is hard to believe, but this event will mark the 100th consecutive month in which a SEMAG event has been held! To commemorate this occasion, we are going big with this event with some activities planned!

It was fitting to return to Dartmouth for the 100th such event, as the original SEMAG event was held in Dartmouth way back in March of 2015. Since then, events have traveled throughout southeastern Massachusetts, going as far east as Barnstable and as far north as Abington. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, three events were held online, and one was in Rhode Island. The centennial SEMAG event will take place under the pavilion at Dartmouth Regional Park & Trails, a facility with ample parking available as well as restrooms.

The SEMAG 100 Kickoff Event will take place in the morning from 9:30-10. This event will include information to lead in to an interactive game for anyone that wants to take part in it. The SEMAG #100 Event Information Page contains more information about this. Please note that participation in this is not required for attendance at the main SEMAG 100 event.

We have several activities planned for the main event. See the schedule below for some more information. There will be a panel for gadget caches and a reviewer Q&A with at least one local Groundspeak reviewer. Refreshments will be provided, and some food will be available from a local caterer for purchase. A table for trackables will also be set up. If anyone is interested in SEMAG shirt or water bottle, please use the following link: t-shirt ordering. A limited quanity of shirts and bottles will be available for purchase at the event, so please order ahead if you want one!

Maker Magic

Update 5/23/23: This event was selected to be a "Maker Magic" event! Anyone who attends will recieve a "Maker Magic" souvenir. See the official geocaching blog post with more information on Maker Magic.

Schedule

3:00-3:30

Welcome and check in

Welcome to SEMAG 100! Take this time to talk to other geocachers, check out the trackable table and see what else SEMAG 100 has to offer. Tickets will be available for the 50/50 and silent raffle at this time. Please sign the official event log when you arrive!

3:30-4:00

Gadget cache workshop and Q&A

Local gadget cache creators Nana Bee, Hyliston, Papa Swan, and MassCoop will be answering any questions about gadget cache creations and explaining their gadget cache creation process. Attendees will have an opportunity to make their own geocaches to hide as containers, swag and logs will be provided. Anyone in attendance at the workshop will be entered into a raffle to win some cool Maker Magic coins and other swag!

4:00-4:30

Reviewer panel and Q&A

Volunteer reviewers Massquerade and MainePublisher will be holding an open forum to answer any questions you may have about the reviewing process.

4:30-5:00

Free time!

Nothing will be scheduled for the event during this time, just in case any of the previous things on the schedule happened to go over the time a bit. There will be lots of other geocachers to talk to anyway, so go say hello!

5:00-5:15

SEMAG talk and shout outs

Event co-host 4SwansT will take the stage to give a brief history of how SEMAG events got to #100, as well as thank any other sponsors and those who helped to create this event!

5:15-5:30

Group photo in nearby field

We will head to a nearby field for the official SEMAG 100 group photo, taken with a drone.

5:30-6:15

Game time!

For those who want to play, it'll be time to open those envelopes and play a few rounds of the game. Winners will get prizes. We will try and play as many rounds as possible in a 45 minute window.

6:15-6:30

Last call for raffle tickets

This will be the last time 50/50 raffle or silent raffle tickets will be sold. At 6:30, winners will be drawn and prizes awarded.

6:30-7:00

Event conclusion

The final raffle drawings will take place, as well as the conclusion of the event. Grab any trackables that may be left. Many more thank yous will be given out at this point as well!

Come and stay for the whole event or stop by for a few minutes. We hope to see you there!
