Geocache Description:

This cache is placed in honor of two Pennsylvania volunteer cache reviewers: OReviewer and MissPlaced

Back in 2003 CCCooperAgency placed a cache called "Shish-K.A.-bob" just over a mile away that was dedicated to Keystone, the Western PA Volunteer Cache Reviewer. Lux and I decided we'd continue the tradition and honor OReviewer and MissPlaced with this cache since they're our two other PA reviewers. OReviewer's territory is eastern PA, and MissPlaced reviews caches statewide.

The suggested parking area is at N40° 24.131' W76° 50.277' near Ellendale Forge where the Rattling Run Trail begins. Following that trail will take you past another cache, a number of very nice views, and remnants of the old mining operations that used to run on this mountain. It will also require a 1100 foot change in elevation and a hike of just over 6 miles (one way) if you stick to the trail. If you want to see the nearby firetower without bushwhacking then that will add another 1.2 miles to your trip. Because of the distances involved, bikes or horses are recommended. (We chose bikes; horses wouldn't fit in my Durango) Please be on the lookout for rattlesnakes and copperheads, both of which inhabit this area. If you're lucky, you might see some deer, turkey, or even a bear or two while you're in the area.

The cache itself is hidden in a rocky area near the edge of the mountain. It's an ammo can that contains the usual swag along with a pure silver unactivated 2005 USA Geocoin as the First To Find prize.

Special note to OReviewer and MissPlaced: Thanks for all the time and effort you spend making this an enjoyable hobby for the rest of us. Our challenge to you -- take some time off from your duties and come find this cache!

Update Dec. 2007: MissPlaced is no longer reviewing caches in PA; she's moved on to assisting the hobby in other ways. Aside from this note, the cache page shall remain as it was originally -- a tribute to two of the many people who make geocaching work.

Safety Note: This cache is located on State Game Lands. Please be familiar with the Game Lands Regulations that apply in this area.
