Geocache Description:

Dansk:

f = Se nedenfor

Spille bold: 40
Spille musik: 41
Dreje til venstre: 42
Ryge: 43

Indsæt nu værdierne i nedenstående fire regnestykker:

m = f×b/c
n = 2×e + d - b
p = e×f - a×d + a - d
q = a×b×d×e + d×e + f + a×c

Cachen befinder sig nu på denne position:

N: 55° m . p '
E: 12° n . q '

Sørg for at gemme beholderen godt igen.

English:

On 19 April 1906, the Copenhagen-Slangerup railway (KSB) was inaugurated. It is now 2006 and the railway can celebrate its 100th anniversary. The celebrations take many forms along the railway – and of course, it will also be celebrated geocaching style.

København-Slangerup-banen is a multi-cache placed at the old railway. To find it, you will need a number of clues, each of which can be found in a micro cache along the railway. This is one of four such micro caches.

København L

This cache was originally at the Lygten station, properly called København L.

The station was the Copenhagen terminus for KSB and it was opened with the railway in 1906. It was convenient for the people living in the Nørrebro quarter as they could easily take the railway to the Hareskov forest, but for anybody else it was rather inconvenient and in 1976, the station was closed and the terminus moved to Svanemøllen (and later to Copenhagen Central Station when the S-railway was opened).

In its greatest days, the station had three platforms, maintenance facilities, depot, turntable, goods building, and large storage and loading facilities for loading gravel from the pits near Nymølle to lorries.

The building was designed by Henrich Wenck, also known for Copenhagen Central Station, and today the station is still intact in its old place, though it is now somewhat cramped in by a shopping centre and the elevated railway servicing Nørrebro Station across the street. Today, the building is used as a community centre by Kvarterløft Nord-Vest, part of Copenhagen Municipality.

The original hiding place of the cache has been removed so the cache is now a multi-cache. The coordinates refer to the track side of the old station and the hunt for information to find this cache starts here.

Lersøen

The new hiding place of the cache is the old station Lersøen. It used to be one of the biggest and most important stations in Copenhagen but is now just a big area of overgrown track. When visiting the area, you should be able to get an impression of the size and importance of this station in the old days.

Technically, Lersøen is still a station. Apart from being on the Ring Railway, it also has a side track that goes down to Østerport station. In fact, the track that crosses Århusgade and Vordingborggade at level crossings originates here.

Start out at the coordinates and note the following information:

a = Number of wooden columns on the station building facing the square
b = Number of double doors leading into the waiting hall
c = Number of round windows in the façade
d = Number of "caged" trees on the square
e = Number of metal poles on the square
f = See below

On the square at the starting coordinate a sign informs you of something that is prohibited. The value f is set according to what you are not allowed to do (some knowledge of Danish may or may not be required for this part):

Loiter: 39
Play ball: 40
Play music: 41
Turn left: 42
Smoke: 43

Now, insert the values into the following formulas:

m = f×b/c
n = 2×e + d - b
p = e×f - a×d + a - d
q = a×b×d×e + d×e + f + a×c

The cache is at the following position:

N: 55° m . p '
E: 12° n . q '

The container has a couple of small pencils only so you might want to bring your own writing utensil. Please be careful to hide the cache properly once replacing it.

The cache is nowhere near the tracks with overhead power lines. These tracks are operated by very frequent commuter trains and you must keep a distance of at least 10 metres from these. You do not need to get near these tracks and crossing them is both dangerous and illegal.
