Kinda like the Lion in the Wizard of Oz ("If I only had a heart"), I, too, pine ... but for a backbone. I'd even settle for a shell. My mission, then, is to get my picture taken with anything living in moist conditions, but with a skeleton or exoskeleton.
I started my travels in Lynden, Washington, a quaint small town in Washington's very Northwest corner. Western Washington is renowned for its overcast weather, making it a virtual haven for invertebrates ... especially slugs, which can reach gigantic proportions.
Now that I've jetted around the world, I'm off again soon to fill in my passport with visits to all the states, provinces, countries and continents I've missed on the first circumnavigation. Maybe "Magellan" should now be my middle name (1. I outdid the explorer ... I made it back! 2. My owner uses one (Uh, oh, let's not start any GPSr wars!)).

Uh, oh. Sammy is still inventoried in Nudge Nudge, but hasn't been spotted there of late (I've polled all subsequent visitors and no one has seen him/her/it). I hold a dim, slim hope that Sammy need only be rescued from the bottom of someone's geobag or from between the seat cushions. Horrors, perhaps Pharmadude had salt, or a salt compound, on his fingers at last placement ... what a way to go!

We were down in Anacortes, and going down a trail in search of the elusive Hairy Wildflower Gnome Cache when what to our wandering eyes should appear, in a moment of excitement we wonder is it Sammy!!
Awww shucks no.. just one of his relatives.. but Mario needed to say hi!

Sammy is home in Lynden for a bit of a rest ... he deserves it, he's officially circumnavigated the earth! And none too soon, this last cache was a bit cold for an invertebrate (see pic). Gracious thanks to all who helped him on his way, and especially for the big jumps here and there. If there's any wish on his re-release, it's for MORE PICS!

Well Jordy got him dropped off safe and sound in Aldergrove, and we recently had a request to ask where we want him to go.. so we told his tale
We did get a few pictures of his adventures today.. on his way home!

My mom took me to this one, my first find on my own. She had already been there and said we were on a mission to help bring Sammy home, as he was an Around the World Slug!!
So I picked him up, and she'll make sure he get's dropped off near the Aldergrove border crossing soon. In a bag with a note of where he has to go, and that he's to wait for the parental visit in Lynden before taking off again.
Imagine the border guards asking what the purpose of the visit is.. "To pick up my pet slug and bring him home.. " he he
