Current Goal

I want to visit historic places and learn more about where I've been. Photo's with me at these places would be great, but a link to a web site would be equally appreciated.

Retrieve It from a Cache 11/11/2009 geoexpress retrieved it from Defenses of the Bay - Fort Kearney Rhode Island   Visit Log

I found A Stitch In Time at the Defenses of the Bay - Fort Kearney cache. This cache location has a very interesting history. I'll try to find a historic cache location to place this T.B.

Found this in "Blue Star Terminal" (GCHRCJ). We are heading to Gettysburg in the morning but also noticed that this little guy just came from there. So we'll hang onto him a little bit longer -- we're sure we can find some other historic place.

I tried to part ways with this bug in Gettysburg but the two caches that were big enough to hold it were MIA. So it was deposited on our way home. Hope he finds his way to his goal and it has been fun traveling with it!

Happy trails!

  • Pickett's Charge... Looking out from Seminary Ridge. The monument to the soldiers from Virginia is the big one on the right. The field in front is the field that the confderate army crossed. It is about a mile to the trees in the distace...the high water mark.

Went crabbing today with DadsGLC. After we were done we did a quick series of caches that ended close to this location. In the picture, taken at the Matapeake Pier, note the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in the background.

The pier is the Matapeake Fishing Pier.

You can learn a little bit more here:

From the Matapeake pier you can get one of the best views of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. For more information on the bridge, visit this link:

Tomorrow we are off to Gettysburg and the release of this guy back into the wild. It has been fun traveling with it, but it is time to move it along.

I had wanted to log these at the Communities of Currituck Banks Earthcache, but you can't do that with Earthcaches...so this was the next best thing. This cache was actually about 1/4 miles from the location of the Earthcache. The photo that is attached is at the end of the Earthcache walk. It is the required picture for the Earthcache...

You can check out the Earthcache here:

You can learn more about the location of the Earthcache and this cache (which is situation along an off course hiking trail).

Last stop before heading back North. Next stop will be a cache near Gettysburg where we will finally part company!

Thanks for tagging along on vacation this year....
