Trophy Travelbug by TrailRun

I love running trails, and mud's the best,
Please give me a hand in running west.

Basic mission: WEST Please move me west if possible, but if not I'd just like to keep moving. My owner will post his running mileage and see if he can outrun me. My preference is to hit some good trails on the way west, and then to make the jump to Lahaina, Maui.

Although I'm a long way from winning hardware, I love to run, and geocaching has provided me with a lot of new and interesting destinations.

Around the time I turned 40, my brother inspired me to run my first marathon and it has been very rewarding.

I began trail running during marathon training and my favorite events have been on trails, including Dances With Dirt (www.danceswithdirt.com), and the Tecumseh Trail Marathon (www.dinoseries.com).

The starting cache for this TB is near one of my favorite trails. The mud on the trophy was inspired by the "This Sucks" leg of Dances with Dirt. Here's my loooong race report from DWD 2005: (Visit link)

Up until March 12, 2007 I was holding my own against Trophy, but it made a big move and I have some catching up to do. The graph below shows the mileage over time. On November 17, 2007 Trophy reached its goal of reaching Lahaina, Maui and it is now stopped (I hope) with my brother. Maybe sometime I'll catch up. I plan to keep logging miles here as I make progress. (That will be slow in the near future until some knee problems are resolved.)

Ok, this is TrailRun checking in. Thanks very much for reuniting the tag and the trophy and putting it back into circulation. Let see... On 6/6/06 I was 101.0 miles ahead when just the tag was recovered by jtsolid. I'll count my miles up to that point. On 11/4/06, tech1 reunited the tag and the trophy and placed it in Byrd TB hotel 86.1 miles away. I'll count those miles for the TB, but not my running miles, so that puts me at 24.71. It's been picked up, but I've been putting in a lot of miles to try to reach an annual mileage goal. As of 11/28/06 I'm 209.05 miles ahead. 😎 Let the race continue...

Thanks Tech_1 for reviving the Trophy TB. The race is back on! I'll figure out a way to leave out my running miles when it was out of circulation, but also need to account for the latest mileage somehow.

Found the "tag" in the cache but was not attached to anything. Was just laying in bottom of cache. Don't remember seeing anything resembling the gold runner. I do have the TB tag so if you would like me to mail to you, please let me know. Jim of jtsolid.

It was worth wait 'swinwood', and thanks for placing it an cache that I would enjoy visiting. While Trophy was kickin' back, I was busy doing what I love to do, running. With the new mileage on Trophy I'm still 26.4 miles ahead. 😎

Sorry took so long to get him out west. Work has delayed much of my caching activities :( Placed him in nice park http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/garner/ where we hiked about 2.5 miles of up and down trails. Placed him in a cache which should be one of the highest points in the park. Sorry no pics this time, traveling too light to take a camera.

After a good run today in a forest preserve I'm 210.38 miles ahead of the Trophy TB. The TB has been out of circulation for almost two months. Is it still with 'swinwood'?
