Located in the Wilder Ranch State Park, this bench was donated by members of the Geocachers of the Bay Area (www.thegba.net).

The inscription reads:

I've been meaning to visit this bench since the GBA folks had it installed. Today was my first trip to Wilder, with a stop at the Bud's Bench. I had seen pictures of it, but was surprised how seeing in person was a very sobering moment. We sat for a while to enjoy the serene corner of the ranch and were quickly joined by a friendly cat.

On the first day of my annual October visit to the area, I stopped by to show my respects to the man I never met but has guided me to many beautiful spots along this coast.

I forgot to note the travel bug number for this when I was in the park for a quick hike before the 9/12 event. Luckily, I was back today for a longer (9-mile) hike with some friends. and we made the time to visit the bench and tour the buildings. And say hi to two of the resident cats as well, one of which followed us around for a bit.

Thanks again to all who contributed towards the bench, and Touchstone & British Invasion for taking the lead on it.

I came out with a friend today who has never Geocached and discovered the bench. Some day I'll bring 50sumtin's Grindylow out here, too. It's been a really hard year for her, but I know she is grateful for all the kind words and deeds that the Geocaching community has done.
The bench/table is beautiful and in a great spot. THANK YOU!!

Catomcat and I came to pay our respects to Bud today. We did some hiking here at Wilder Ranch, finding time between the CITO event and the 50sumtin memorial event. I got down low and discovered that I could not read the numbers without my reading glasses, meaning catomcat had to then also look. Hard to get enough distance between those little letters when the ground is in the way! We sat on Bud's bench, had a little lunch and talked about our memories of Bud. I sure miss him.
