SIGILLUM MILITUM CHRISTI (Siegel der Streiter Christi)

Auf dem Coin ist das Siegel des Templerordens zu sehen. Seine Reise soll dem Gedenken an
die Gründer des Templerordens (Gründung im Jahre 1119 oder 1120) "Hugo von Payens" und
"Gottfried von Saint-Omer" dienen. Der König von Jerusalem, Balduin II, überließ den Templern
im Jahre 1119 die Gebäude seines ehemaligen Palastes, die auf dem Gelände des alten Tempels Salomons erbaut gewesen sein sollen.
Der Orden nannte sich daraufhin Pauperes commilitones Christi templique Salomonici Hierosalemitanis (Arme Ritter Christi und des Tempels von Salomon zu Jerusalem), woraus sich dann die heute üblichen Namensgebungen Templer, Tempelritter, Tempelherren bzw. Templerorden ableiten.

The coin shows the seal of the Knights Templar. His travel serves the memory of the founders (foundation in the year 1119 or 1120) by Hugues de Payens and Godfrey de Saint-Omer
King Baldwin II of Jerusalem agreed to their request, and gave them space for a headquarters on the Temple Mount, in the captured Al Aqsa Mosque. The Temple Mount had a mystique, because it was above what was believed to be the ruins of the Temple of Solomon. The Crusaders therefore referred to the Al Aqsa Mosque as Solomon's Temple, and it was from this location that the Order took the name of Poor Knights of Christ and the Temple of Solomon, or "Templar" knights.

Diesen wunderhübschen Coin habe ich in unseren Ferien in der Toskana entdeckt. Er kam mit uns in die Nordwestschweiz. Mal sehen, was ich in naher Zukunft für einen entsprechenden Cache finde. Vorher will ich den beigelegten Zettel und das Etui reparieren. Diese habe ich in Montalcino zuerst gesehen und dann nur durch Zufall noch den schönen Coin, der herausgefallen war und unten in der Dose lag 😮. FamWa
