Was bitte ist ein Aerophon? Eigentlich nichts anderes als eine simple (kleine) Pfeife. In der Hornbostel-Sachs-Systematik von 1914 werden so alle Musikinstrumente genannt, bei denen der Klang durch direkte Schwingungsanregung der Luft erzeugt wird. So auch bei einer Pfeife wie ihr sie vor euch habt. Aber es wäre doch langweilig gewesen meinen Reisenden einfach nur „Pfeife“ zu nennen. So hat jeder, der sie einmal in Händen hält, auch noch die Möglichkeit etwas zu lernen. Also, ein Pfiff und weiter geht’s zum nächsten Cache.
Aerophon - But what is an Aerophon? Actually, it simply is a (small) whistle. More precisely, it is any musical instrument which produces sound primarily by causing a body of air to vibrate, without the use of strings or membranes, and without the vibration of the instrument itself adding considerably to the sound. It is one of the four main classes of instruments in the original Hornbostel-Sachs scheme of musical instrument classification. That means that it is the same thing as the whistle in front of you. However, it would have been too boring to call my traveller a whistle, since I wanted everyone who will hold it in his/her hands to be able to learn something. So, please whistle and off you go to the next Cache.
