About This Item

DEADCAT

Dani and Iris are big bicyclists and think we are too much car dependent.
With a series of 5 'Bicycle Mania geocoins' we would like to share with you our efforts in getting less car addicted.

This coin wants you to consider and share your car dependence/addiction.

Carbusters magazine is a quarterly journal published by World Carfree Network and produced by an international team of activists in Prague, Czech Republic. Acting as a voice of the global carfree movement, it critiques car culture and explores positive alternatives.

Dani+Iris have a subscription to it by accident but are still attracted to it because of its (sometimes) shocking, funny, caricaturesque, extreme, nonconformist, ... style. It is always a fun read and the topics typically include:

  • Car Cult Review This humour section looks at various oddities and bizarre happenings in the world of car culture.
  • Industry Watch This section exposes dirty deeds of the automobile, oil and related industries.
  • Action! This section reports direct actions around the world.
  • Skill Sharing This (often more humourous than serious) section follows a "how-to" format, and the subject matter can be anything from how to "bounce" cars off the pavement (sidewalk, footpath) to how to design a bicycle-powered sound system!
  • Book Reviews
  • all spiced up with eye-catching graphics and artwork and funny/cool badges, posters, stickers, T-shirts.

Dani and Iris own a car, rent a car on holidays, ... even hunt down geocaches by car! But reading Carbusters makes them think of their car habits. They try to use the bike more often and think about sharing a car...

Please share with us your personal car habits, addiction, concerns, ...
Do you own a car, are addicted to it, have experiences in sharing or do you live with car alternatives?
What are your problems, wishes, struggles, ...?

This geocoin is one in the series of 5 'Bicycle Mania geocoins' Dani and Iris released in the world to share their bicycle experiences. The others are:
