The goal of this coin is to spread the message of Bike Awareness while travelling from cache to cache.
Dani and Iris are big bicyclists and think we are too much car dependent.
With a series of 5 'Bicycle Mania geocoins' we would like to share with you our efforts in getting less car addicted.
This coin wants you to consider and share your commuting experiences.
Where we live, a lot of colleagues live in a distance from work less than 10km but don't consider any other options than a car. They come up with lots of reasons why they can only come by car, not by bicycle, ...
But the tide is changing. The advantages are obvious to us (free daily healthy exercise, wave to the traffic jams, ...) and we see a big movement (in Belgium) joining in!
There are not for profit organisations like Fietsersbond (cyclists' organisation) that campaign for safer cycling and raising the number of cyclists and defend the interests of cyclists.
There are support and motivation programmes set up to get more people to bike to work more often. Bike To Work is one of these that give tools for self motivation and to set yourself a fitting target. Dani+Iris subscribed to www.biketowork.be because it is always a struggle and the car is still a too easy alternative...
