Fawley Owl
is a kind, helpful and cheerful little soul who is very inquisitive and loves
to meet children of all ages.

He was hatched
and hand-reared in 2002 by Fawley Infant Schools' Reception Class (now Year 2), who were between four
and five years of age. They took considerable time to train him and teach
him to be polite in the company of strangers. Following Fawley Owl's progress
around the country (or even the world!) is an excellent introduction for the
children into the use of computers, the Internet, and basic geography.

The class would
love to hear from other children who have found him and taken him to their school
to introduce him to their friends. If you have children of any age and find
Fawley Owl, please encourage your child to take him along to school and have
his picture taken with them.
If you would like
to visit the school's website, please click

The children look
forward to watching his progress!

Fawley Owl was removed from Silvermine Tales - 1 on 24 May 2003 by The Vans. They did not log the removal on the Travel Bug site, only on the Silvermine Tales- 1 site. We emailed them to remind them to do this and to place the Owl elsewhere, but to date this has had no effect. Their email address is vincent@icon.co.za They have now had the Owl for more than 2 months.

Found him on Easter Sunday - we were the first visitors to a new cache. He is spending the next week with us in Tokai, Cape Town, before we move him on to another cache.

Fawley Owl has come in from the cold and is now getting ready for a trip abroad. We will be leaving for South Africa on sunday and will be taking him with us to Cape Town where he will enjoy some warm sunny weather. We will place him in a cache there to continue his travels and I will take him to my old school that I attended there many years ago.
We will report his progress to you and hopefully send some pictures.

Unfortunately we haven't had a chance to take Fawley to meet any children or to visit any schools. So we decided to each take him to work with us so he could try out some different careers.
David took him to his job as an IT consultant and Kirsty took him to show him what being an accountant is like. We've added some extra photos of his work experiences.

Found Fawley Owl at The Wilderness and showed him the plaque all about that lovely place in the woods. He was feeling a bit claustrophobic after living in a bucket for a week so he had a bit of a sit in a tree.
He inspected another couple of caches this afternoon but decided they were a bit too small for him so he has come to stay with us for a while. Once we got home he decided to take a dip in the hot tub to warm himself up.
As my mum is a teacher and my sister is a beaver scout leader we will be taking him to visit some new children while he stays with us.
