About This Item

Thanks for picking up my trackable: "Henry the Lion and his book"

It made a long voyage,  Henry and his book are from Braunschweig, Germany - my hometown.

I visited the USA twice and got home with wonderful memories. I hope to visit USA someday once again. Until than I send "Henry and his book ahead. It's goal is to visit all US states.

My I ask for a favor? Please, can you fill out in the book the list on page 4-7 for the first cache whenever "Henry and his book" visits a state for the first time.

I made also a double page for every US state. So if you like you can write down your geocaching-name, a special note, a poem or stick in a photo,... Be creativ and show me the state you are living in! I would appreciate it and be excited and pleased about it.

Thanks a lot and best regards from Germany!

Visited 6/27/2018 Called2care took it to When Pigs Fly in Placencia Belize - 920.59 miles  Visit Log

Your TB has now visited the country of Belize!! I’m going to add the cache log again.

Our 2nd country of the trip!!! When we stepped off the cruise ship today, we looked up at the sky and realized... it’s going to be a gloomy day! Who says that about being on a coast in a new country? Not these geocachers!!! So off we headed down the dock, by the time we had reached NCL’s private island... it was raining away. Does that bother these geocachers? Nah! Well by the time we had ordered our ferry to the peninsula of Placencia... it was STORMING!!! Bring it on!!!! Thankfully by the time we finished our ride on the ferry with all our complaining companions... the rain had stopped and it was just a cloudy day.
It was a little ways to get to this cache so we had to drive, and our options were taxi or renting a golf cart. We went with a taxi and our driver was very very nice!!!! He stayed with us the whole time we grabbed the cache. It looks like a really nice restaurant, but it apparently doesn’t open till the afternoon. The cache is so cleverly hidden and we enjoyed getting pictures with it. It was tucked under one of the bar tables and held very securely on place by nails.
Placencia is such a lovely place to visit! I would recommend it to cruisers or just vacationers who want to stick around for a little bit. I’m so glad we got to see a bunch of it from riding the taxi.

Visited 6/26/2018 Called2care took it to Tropicante In Downtown Quintana Roo, Mexico - 768.06 miles  Visit Log

Your TB went to Costa Maya, Mexico!!! We found one really awesome cache there and for sake of the story, I’ll just copy and paste my log from the cache over here for your reading pleasure! Before today, your TB has enjoyed a relaxing day at sea on our cruise ship. Being pampered with two wonderful swimming pools, some slides, unlimited buffet of food and awesome shows!!!

This cache was certainly a highlight on our cruise (Norwegian Getaway). Not only was it our first stop along the way... but we were so clueless about how cruising and stopping in other countries would go. First we thought maybe we could walk the beach to the cache, then we determined probably not... how about walking the roads? Well we got mildly mobbed by taxi drivers and then figured... why not? So we took the taxi and boy was that a good idea! I mean... we are geocachers and we are used to caching in all environments... but why torture yourself while you are on a cruise? It also seems the taxi drivers are so smart and know all the places in the area cuz our guy made sure we had someone guiding us from his car straight to the restaurant!
When we showed up at the restaurant with GPS in hand, Jorge immediately spotted us and grabbed the cache for us with a huge smile on his face. He catered to our every whim (detailed pictures of the cache in every fashion, an especially getting a good view of the TBs. unfortunately not all were able to fit in the backpack, so some did not get their picture directly with the cache... ☹️) and got us a yummy drink. We then soaked our feet in the ocean (cuz we were dumb and didn’t put a swimsuit on) and learned quickly to shake your head no about every minute as the vendors are politely persistent with all they very cool possessions they wish to sell you!!!! Mercy!!!
After a relaxing walk down the town market... we very successfully bartered and bought a pretty dress! (actually we are really bad at bartering... we were just running out of money and the lady really wanted a sale) 😹
We took some nice photos of our ship when we got back to it and proclaimed it a successful and wonderful day with one super awesome geocache find!!!

Visited 6/23/2018 Called2care took it to Celebration Travel Bug Hotel Florida - 127.82 miles  Visit Log

On this trip this is as close as we are getting to Disneyland!! Wish we could go there... another day... another dream! But this is a lovely stop at some beautiful white apartments that you cross over a boardwalk to get to a little pond where you find your geocache.

Our first Florida cache of the trip! Nuthin too special of a container, but it gives us Union County.

Visited 5/26/2018 Called2care took it to GeoWoodstock 2018 Ohio - 10.34 miles  Visit Log

Henry is ecstatic to say that he was privileged enough to get to go to USA’s first GIGA, GeoWoodstock 16!!!!! He had been looking forward to this for months!!! We are still filling out his book and enjoying his travels with it. GeoWoodstock was a wonderful event with so many thousands of people there! It was kind of overwhelming. Lots of speakers to listen to, lab caches to find, vendors to see, and of course we got to enjoy Coney Island amusement park. The TBs tables were the biggest I’ve ever seen at any event!!! Pictures to come later

Visited 5/24/2018 Called2care took it to GeoWoodstock XVI - Street Party Ohio - 38.26 miles  Visit Log

Hitting up our first Geowoodstock event! This is the Street Party where there were food vendors, a photo booth, and some great live music!! The town put on a good party for us.

Visited 5/23/2018 Called2care took it to AFK to Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens (425) Ohio - 52.82 miles  Visit Log

We headed off to the great Cincinnati Zoo today which I learned is the 2nd oldest zoo in the US. Soooo cool!!! They have such nice set ups for the animals that look as realistic as possible. Some of my favorite stops were the silly flamingos that kept flipping their heads back and forth while screaming, the sweet little manatees who are being medically assisted to go back to the wild later, then of course baby Fiona the hippo. I’ve been watching the internet updates on baby Fiona just about since she was born, so to see her in person was just awesome!!!! She is such a little ham and we got a money pic with her!

Still catching counties as we roll along towards Cincinnati! This is a very green rolling park with an ammo can. Love it!

Visited 5/23/2018 Called2care took it to SB - Pioneer Village Kentucky - 162.35 miles  Visit Log

A small cache in a small pioneer village type place. It’s late at night here, but two doggies were out for a walk and cat chase. There was just enough light for us to see how cool the village was. It appears as if they have a very nice stage too.

Visited 5/22/2018 Called2care took it to Angry Birds Fly South 03: Troubled Waters Tennessee - 104.51 miles  Visit Log

On our road trip to the great Geowoodstock!!! So excited to be going to the first giga in the USA!!! We are catching counties along the roads as we go. This was a really neat state park with a fun gadget cache near an old mill.
