About This Item

The Cincy Duck

The duck traveled with us for the last 25 caches we have done. We have released him into the wild on October 4th when we found our 100th cache, the Squirrel's Paradise. Since Jeremy had some evil looking ducks released, we thought it might be nice to release this very friendly duck to the wild! Have fun with him and the more pictures the better! Good luck little duck!

We found Cincy Duck in Lake Todo Estrella cache on Florida Disney property. It was absolutely pouring out so he couldn't wait to get out. He is resting in Syracuse, New York. (Are ducks supposed to go north for the Winter???) We will find him a new home this weekend!

We really enjoyed our time with Cinci! He traveled to Wisconsin then down to Florida the old fashioned way -- by car. He sat on our dashboard for the trip and came with us on every adventure. Adventures included: a Mammoth Cave tour, an awsome Mammoth Cave park caching adventure, hanging out with the cousins in Atlanta, getting our car repaired in Atlanta (2 quarts of oil ended up on the ground somehow 😟), Disney's Animal Kingdom, Sea World, and Disney's Magic Kingdom! We had a blast and we'll miss him. We left him at a Disney cache and he was picked up and brought to New York well before we could log our drop off. Enjoy the rest of your journey Cinci!!! We'll add pictures as soon as they're developed. Thanks for the companionship! 🙂--The GeoZingers

We're getting ready to take Mr. Cinci for a nice long ride to Florida! We were desperate to bring a travel bug on this trip so we hired some friends to pull off the heist. It was their first cache, they hit it at night, and their mission accomplished! They hit their second cache the next day -- I think their hooked! Get ready for an adventure Cinci! We'll do our best to make sure he enjoys the ride. Thanks Cinci Cachers!!!

Karen, Pepper and I found the Cincy Duck at the Volo Bog Surprize. We are going to hold a party in his honor, introduce him to some friends, and generally have a good time with him. We'll let you know what happens! Later on next week, he will be traveling to Buffalo Grove, Illinois. More to come!

  • Part 1-Dinner It had been an incredible weekend of geocashing. Karen, Alex, Pepper, Cincy the duck and I stopped off for some Chinese food. After hiking a good part of the weekend, this was all we had the energy to do. Cincy was not pleased to discover that our favorite Chinese restaurant served Peking Duck. The chef began looking us over. We needed to leave.
  • Part 2-Howdy On the way home, we decided to hold a small party. Pepper the puppy relaxed on the floor, ready to turn in after a long day of geocaching... Cincy wished Pepper a good night.
  • Part 3-Cincy meets Red Baron Snoopy We introduced Cincy to Red Baron Snoopy. Cincy told of his adventures being a geocaching travel bug. Here they are having rum and cokes while discussing the caching experience. Little did we know, we were stroking the flames of decadence...quietly awaking a sleeping giant. Nothing is more frightful than a duck on a bender...as we were about to find out... Red Baron Snoopy later informed us of his desires to become a travel bug.
  • Part 4-Who keeps turning up the music! I was amazed at how quickly a bottle of rum disappeared. I knew that someone had knocked the bottle over...but I didn't think it was done intentionally, until I noticed Cincy swimming in a sea of rum and dishwater bubbles. Someone mentioned that Cincy was trying to coerce them into opening a couple bottles of champagne, but that person smartly refused. We could only imagine the warped yet ingenious ideas this duck was hatching. We also noticed that the music kept getting louder and louder...
  • Part 5-Hey! Things overall are pretty mellow. A few hours go by, and then we run out of gin (how did that get opened?!?). Cincy grabs my keys and says he's going out for a little spin. Fearing that he might try to migrate south for spring break, we sprung into action. Danger danger, no Will Robinson, don't drink and fly....er...drive...whatever! We had to ask Cincy to turn over the keys. Thank God we caught Cincy just in time...
  • Part 6-Munching Cincy gets the munchies and plows into a bag of crunchy chee-tos...
  • Part 7-Munching 2 And once those are gone, Cincy goes after the peanut butter...talk about an appetite!
  • Part 8-Margaritas Basking in the calm before the storm, we quietly take the gin bottle away from Cincy. We turn our backs for just a minute and what do we discover? Cincy and Red Baron Snoopy have switched to margaritas with tequila chasers. Who taught this duck to operate a blender?!? We never thought a duck could get so out of control.
  • Part 9-Making calls Cincy was later seen making a few phone calls...lord only knows to who...
  • Part 10-Sign this! Then more debauchery (as if we didn't know better). One of our party goers decides to take a nap. Cincy waddles over and mumbles, "think I'll autograph me a geocacher." By the time he finishes, our one friend’s leg resembles a street-level map of downtown Cincinnati.
  • Part 11-The end? But all things have to end, and Cincy's party finally ended after we caught Cincy raiding the fridge. Two quart of rocky road and low fat fudge brownie ice cream appeared to be the only causalities.
  • Part 12-The next day... The next day, Cincy rode the train to my work. His new home would soon become a popular little cache in Buffalo Grove. We had taken him in, introduced him to family members, let him play with our kids and our pets, eat our food, and drink our beverages. We took him on two cache hikes, using his navigational skills to guide us in our efforts. I took him to work, there he impressed almost everyone he met. People stood outside my office to consult the duck on various topics. That same day, Cincy applied for and was hired as a regional VP. He promptly reorganized our division, checked his e-mail, sold a few thousand in options and promptly took the rest of the afternoon off.
  • The End! Who knows where the duck will surface next. Our lives have been touched by the duck. After work, some of us ducked out and placed Cincy in the Buffalo up the Creek cache. As we closed the lid of the cache, we reflected on the events of the past week. We shall never forget this duck. We breathed a sign of relief. We ran like the dickens.
