Welcome aboard the bus!
in 2013, this trackable was launched as a special project. to collect photos along it's journey. The camera was still live as of 2015, but it's now 2019 and that is long since gone. However, the bus rolls on. Rolls on to where? Victoria, BC of course! Specifically, Geocache #GC17DEJ (This little piggy went to market) - Why there of all places? I'm glad you asked. There is a charity marathon going on in that place every november. The goal for this little bus is to make it to the event, which occurs every november [2019 date starts friday, Nov. 8 and runs 6-7 days] When this bus pulls into the station, it brings with them all the goodwill and charity of those who helped pass it on it's little adventure. For every step along the way that this cache goes, I will donate $1 with a maximum cap of $100. Donate to who? More details in the description, but the short version is that the funds go to Childs Play, an orginization that gives toys to sick children in hospitals across the world. (Yes. this means that whomever stole the camera somewhere between 2015 and 2019 stole from sick children, but let's not judge them too harshly.) Happy Caching and let's make some children happy!
Once a year, The Desert Bus rides across the desert. It's cargo is a sketch comedy team, their friends and over One Million Dollars. Their goal? Give toys to sick children in the hospital. Confused? Let me explain. Each year, a group of comedians in Victoria, BC, Canada raise money for the charity Child's Play by marathoning the videogame Desert Bus. Why this game? It has been called "The worst game of all time". Why? You drive a bus across a flat, even road for 8 hours in real time. There is no pausing, There is no stopping. The bus lists slightly, so you must have constant input for those eight hours. Once you make it to your destination, you get.. A POINT! Sounds awful? Good. These comedians take donations for them to continue torturing themselves. It goes as long as they keep getting money. In the six years they've done this, they've raised over one million dollars. So... how can we help them raise that next million?
This trackable is to be sent to Desert Bus for Hope via cache #GC17DEJ (This little piggy went to market). It will be filled to bursting with pictures and stories for them to do something cool with. The one who sent this of will donate $1 to the charity for every stop it makes along it's trip (up to $100). I don't know whats in store for this next run, but with a geocache along the way, it's sure to be entertaining and fun. Share your stories with us. How did you find it? Tell us how Geocaching has improved your life. How fun was the cache you got this trackable from? If this bus could speak, what would it say? Let's enjoy this before it makes it's goal.
