Smile Family reached the summit of the Mount Rysy (2503 m, Slovakia) on 2nd July 2013 and this Mount Everest Geocoin (Antique Copper) started its journey. Please keep it in the mountains and let it move from one geocache to another. Please write more about your traveling, walking, wandering, hiking, climbing and add photos. We hope, that this Geocoin will give you more strength and make your journey safe. Good luck, mountain friend :)
The hike started - 7:30. Top - 15:00. Final - 21:30. Ascent - about 1200 m and back the same way.
Already 60 years ago Edmung Hillary and Tenzing Norgay did the first ascent to the summit of the highest mountain of the Earth - the Mount Everest. They reached the top on 29th May 1953. Hillarys first words after his return were: “Well George, we finally knocked the bastard off.”
Already 20 years ago Vladas Vitkauskas - the first Lithuanian reached the summit of the Mount Everest. He did it on 10th May 1993. Later he raised Lithuanian flag on the highest summits of all continents on the Earth.
This Geocoin is dedicated for the 60th anniversary of the first ascent to the Mount Everest. On the frontside you can see Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on top of Mount Everest. Since no real photo exists of Tenzing Norgay on top (since he was not able to take a photo with the camera), this is only an illustration. The backside of the Mount Everest Geocoin shows explorer's tour to the top and several camps during the trip.
A Geocache GCP7JV was hidden on the Mount Everest in 2005 (7.570 m). Unfortunately this has already been archived yet.
